Guided two-mile tour that following Gregory Swanson’s daily walk from the former Carver Inn on Preston Avenue to Clark Hall at the University of Virginia, with intermediate stops at places of importance to Swanson’s life and experience in Charlottesville.
Historic Tour: Walk in the Footsteps of Gregory Swanson
This tour is free, but registration is required
Refreshments will follow the conclusion of the tour at Clark Hall. Buses will shuttle tour participants from Clark Hall back to the Jefferson School parking garage.

Freedom of Assembly and Petition - 1st Amendment Community Workshop #3
Join the Robert H. Smith Center for the Constitution at James Madison’s Montpelier, in partnership with the ACHS, for an enlightening conversation on the First Amendment rights to assembly and petition. The workshop will explore historical and contemporary examples of peaceful assembly and petitioning, as well as the legal protections and the challenges to the First Amendment faced today.
