The 2020-2021 Fauquier County Cost Share grant project, administered by the Virginia Department of Historic Resources (DHR).  Grant funding was used to identify and document historic African American properties located throughout Fauquier County, including churches, schools, fraternal society buildings, and businesses, and to map the early African American communities.  Katherine Watts, Architectural Historian with Dovetail Cultural Resource Group, and Wendy Wheatcraft, Fauquier County Preservation Planner, will discuss findings and explain how this information can be used as a stepping stone to learn more about these significant resources.  DHR staff will be available to answer any questions about the grant program.
